Using your cut-to-size blackout blind
Customise to fit window and install with ease.
Our cut-to-size blinds are ideal if you are searching for a block out solution to be used in a nursery or child's room without the need to take it out of home. BUT, to get that perfect fit you should follow our easy to install step-by-step guide.
Let's get started...
1. Begin by cleaning the glass with a suitable cleaning agent to remove any dust particles and grease. Ensure the window is completely dry before proceeding with with installation.
2. Measure the size of the window with the tape measure provided.
3. Mark the length and width, then cut the blind to size. Allow an additional 2cm all round to ensure all light is blocked (you can always cut down further if needed, but you can't undo if it's too small!).
4. Connect opposing pieces of the hook and loop fasteners together.
5. Attach the Loop (soft side) to the blind in evenly spaced distances (approx. 10-15cm apart).
6. Starting from one corner, gently press the blind and sticky side of the hook fastener against the window (or window frame, depending on where you’re attaching it) and hold for five seconds.
7. Work your way around the window, repeating this action. Ensure the blind is full stretched out as you go and that it’s tight to the edge to avoid light breaking through.
8. Allow the blind in place for two hours to ensure proper adhesion before removing.
Packing down...
When removing, take care to remove each fastener individually.
Avoid pulling the blind down at once using the fabric, as this may risk damaging the blind.
Note: Exercise caution when applying the double sided hook and loop fastener (aka Velcro) to wood or painted surfaces. The strong adhesive may cause damage to occur. We recommend testing surfaces prior to installation.
