We're Kim and Annette, two mums who know firsthand how challenging sleep can be in those early years. From short naps and bright mornings to disrupted routines, we spent countless hours searching for practical solutions that actually worked - and looked good in our homes too.
The journey
As we searched for ways to improve sleep, we quickly discovered how important a dark sleep environment can be. Like many parents, we relied on blackout blinds to block out early morning light and daytime distractions, but constantly putting them up and taking them down wasn't practical.
The easiest solution was to leave them up permanently, but that often meant sacrificing the look and feel of the nursery. Instead of creating a beautiful space for our children, the room felt dark and closed off throughout the day.
We knew there had to be a better way. That's when the idea for Porta Fox was born — blackout solutions that deliver better sleep while still looking right at home in the spaces families love.
